Current Repair Backlog:
8 Weeks
9/30/2024:
Updated information on our location on the
Contact page. Google maps sends you and your GPS in the wrong direction at the roundabout.
Backlog update. As more and more local techs retire, we're getting really busy! Even though we're open to the public four days, we do work six.
8/1/2024:
Feeling strong again and fully open for business. Thank you for your patience and support during our recovery!
5/25/2024:
After a rough ride, we will be soft-opening again Wednesday, May 29th, 2024. Intake is still closed until we catch up. Due to limited ability to lift and carry, speed of repairs will depend on having physical assistance for the next few weeks. Repairs are commencing, however we are prioritizing recuperation of health. We would like to be around for years to come to service your vintage needs. Thank you!
5/12/2024:
Due to suffering a major heart attack on May 10th, intake is currently closed for now. We will be working on all units in queue after a week or so of rest.
2/29/2024:
How often does one get to do an update on February 29th? Yes, our backlog now is 4 MONTHS. We are a one-man shop and quite popular, a warranty centre as well as taking in out-of-province clients. Thank you for your patience!
1/17/2024:
Happy New Year! Weather had other plans delaying our public re-opening. Due to an unprecedented snow storm making our driveway impassable by anything other than a 4x4 with chains, we remain closed until Saturday the 20th.
12/30/2023:
Due to extreme backlog largely in part due to the covid illness, we will be working behind the scenes doing repair but will be CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC until January 17, 2024. We are also closed to taking in more gear until that time. We will be making arrangements for pickups of repaired work in this time period. Visits by appointment during this time, drop-ins will be turned away until the 17th. Thank you.
12/07/2023:
We aren't immune to inflation.... our "additional piece" deposit will be increasing from $30 to $40 as of January 1, 2024. The "first-piece" deposit of $60 remains the same. See our
Services page for details.
10/17/2023:
Thursday October 26th, 2023 we will be closed to do a power outage during construction in our area.
1/15/2023:
Update on our service terms and prices
page. Mostly to do with DIY and Kit repairs. Effective February 1st, 2023:
- Warranty an additional 30 days to 90 days on replaced parts and relevant labour.
- DIY/Kit built equipment (includes Dynaco, Eico, Heathkit, etc. NOT incl. factory built versions) changed from $50/hr diagnostics to a flat $80 for the first piece, $60 for each additional piece on the same visit. This is a non-refundable deposit due up front. Many of these kits/DIY pieces that come in need reverse engineering to find out what the builder did and can take serious time! Commercial equipment deposit rates remain the same as before.
- Minimum charges for DIY/Kit built equipment changed to reflect above.
- For standard, commercial equipment estimates, deposits and rates: NO CHANGES! :-)
- Consultation fees now billed in CAD for Canadians, USD for everyone else. Exchange fees from a Canadian customer to our Canadian business account made billing Canadians in USD a losing proposition.

3/14/2022:
Due to punative fees, we have discontinued PayPal as a payment option.
3/13/2022:
Due to the war in Europe, Russian made tubes are getting real expensive with supply intermittent. If you need affected tubes (Sovtek, Electro-Harmonix, Tung-Sol, Mullard, Svetlana, Genalex - Gold Lion), please contact us for best options (which can change daily).
